FAQ
Here are our customers’ most frequently asked questions. You might find the answers to your own questions right here.
What is an air vent?
Our company primarily focuses on manufacturing and wholesale. We therefore recommend that end customers contact one of our dealers near their place of residence. You can find the most important sales points on our website. However, selected stock items from the DOORNITE Express program can also be purchased through our e-shop.
Do you manufacture custom-made doors?
We specialize in serial production according to European standardized norms; however, we are able to accommodate our customers’ requirements and manufacture doors in non-standard dimensions.
Can your doors be used as entrance doors?
Our doors are designed for separating interior spaces. LUME EXTRA fire doors or others from our range of special doors are also recommended for use as interior entrance doors to apartments. To maintain the structural stability of the door, the spaces must meet the following criteria:
- maximum temperature difference of 10°C between interiors separated by the door (min. interior temperature 13°C)
- recommended maximum moisture of masonry, plaster, and floors 5 %
- relative air humidity in the interior between 40–50%
What is the pitch of the lock used?
A lock with a 72 mm pitch is used for all interior doors, including fire doors. For security doors, the lock pitch is either 72 or 90 mm.
Do you supply doors with hardware?
The doors are fitted with a lock and door hinges, which are already included in the price of the purchased door. Door furniture (rosette/plate handles, door closers, cylinder inserts, etc.) is not included in the price of the door.
Customers can also choose certain types of door hardware and accessories from our range, see the Price List and Catalog (this hardware is originally packed and attached to the door).
What kind of glass do you use for door glazing?
Based on higher demand, we have chosen sandblasted glass as the standard type for most doors. For smooth white, foiled 2/3, and a range of profiled doors, we use clear bark glass as standard.
At the customer’s request, the glass can be replaced with another offered type at no extra charge (with the exception of Mastercarre glass). We offer satin, transparent, clear bark, Chinchilla, Screen, and Mastercarre glass. The required glass type must be specified in the order.
What door frames are the doors intended for?
Since these are standardized doors according to ČSN 74 64 01, they can be installed in standardized steel or wrap-around (adjustable) door frames.
How large should the rough opening be for wrap-around door frames?
The rough opening for standard wrap-around door frames should always be 8–10 cm wider than the nominal door width and 4–5 cm higher than the nominal door height.
Example: The nominal door width/height is 80/197 cm, which means the rough opening must be 88–90 cm wide and 201–202 cm high. The height is measured from the finished floor.
Door frames are installed on the finished floor and finished plaster. For fire-rated wrap-around frames, a rough opening of +11.5 cm to the nominal door width and +6 cm to the nominal door height is suitable.
Can I choose a different door color?
For doors with a finish consisting of white acrylic paint, there is an option to spray a different shade according to the RAL color chart for a surcharge, see the Price List.
For doors with a foil, CPL, or HPL laminate finish, it is only possible to choose from the currently offered decors listed in the catalog. The range includes a wide variety of wood decors as well as modern solid colors, see the Catalog.
How are the doors labeled?
Every product features a production label located on the bottom edge of the door. The label contains information about the door type, finish, decor, dimensions, orientation, production date, and EAN code.
Security and fire doors are fitted with an identification tag, which is usually located on the lock side or the hinge side of the door.
The identification tag includes the fire resistance class, door type details, manufacturer information, serial number, conformity mark, and other declared door properties – security, sound insulation.
Who can perform the installation of interior doors?
Our company does not provide door installation services, but we conduct special training for companies involved in door installation.
Since this is a standardized product, every construction company should follow standard construction procedures during installation.
If you are installing the doors yourself into prepared frames, it is necessary to adjust the screw-in door hinges before installation so that after hanging the door on the frame hinges and closing it, an even distance from the frame edges is achieved on all sides. This prevents abrasion of the door surface in the rebates and potential further damage to the door.
If the frame is deformed such that the door cannot be installed even using the maximum hinge adjustment clearance, we recommend leaving the door modification to a professional company.
The installation of special doors with fire and security modifications may only be performed by a person with a valid authorization for the installation of Fire Safety Equipment (FSE), issued by the manufacturer based on proper training.
Who can perform the installation and operational checks of Fire Safety Equipment (FSE), specifically fire or special doors?
The installation of special doors with fire and security modifications may only be performed by a person with a valid authorization for the installation of FSE, issued by the manufacturer based on proper training. Our company provides regular professional training for the installation and operational checks of FSE intended for individuals and companies.
To find out the training dates, please contact us at info@doornite.cz
Can I trim the doors?
For ordinary interior doors (solid/glazed/profiled/sliding), a maximum trim of 1.5 cm is allowed. If a larger trim is necessary, use the option to widen the door frame or please contact the company’s technical department, see Contacts.
- For LUME EXTRA fire doors and their derived variants (those with LUME EXTRA in the name), a maximum trim of 2.5 cm is allowed.
- For security doors (if they do not fall under LUME EXTRA derived variants), a maximum trim of 1 cm is allowed.
- For Klima doors, a maximum trim of 1 cm is allowed.
- For glazed fire doors, a maximum trim of 2 cm is allowed.
Always discuss any modifications other than those mentioned above with the dealer.
What is the best way to transport the doors?
Doors should be transported in closed cargo areas. Transporting them on the roof of a passenger car or in an open trailer is not recommended. There is a risk of damage to the doors from abrasion, water absorption in rainy weather (or residual water after it), longitudinal warping if unevenly supported, glass breakage, etc.
How should the doors be stored and maintained?
Doors must be stored in a horizontal or vertical position and must always be supported to prevent warping (i.e., along the entire length of the door). The storage area should be dry and well-ventilated.
The surface can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild detergent that does not contain organic solvents or other corrosives.
For more information, you can view the Storage and Maintenance Conditions.
How are the doors packed?
The doors themselves, or rather the door edges, are packed in cardboard packaging, and the entire product is protected with stretch foil against dust and dirt. Alternatively, glazed doors are interleaved with honeycomb strips and wrapped in clear plastic, which is heat-sealed at the edges, enclosing the entire product in a plastic cover.
Pallets of doors are then packed and protected with additional cardboard elements protecting critical points of the products during transport.
What is an air tank?
An air vent is used to ensure air passage into a space closed by a door. The vent serves to cover the ventilation opening; it is made of plastic in brown or white and is covered by a screen. Air vents can be placed in both the lower and upper parts of the door. In addition to an air vent, a ventilation grille can also be used. This is also made of plastic in white or brown. The surcharge for using air vents or a ventilation grille is listed in the price list.
