Sustainability in door manufacturing and DOORNITE’s ecological approach

Responsible manufacturing of doors and frames in the Czech Republic

For us, sustainability is not a standalone project, but a natural part of everyday production.

DOORNITE is a Czech manufacturer of interior doors and frames with a long-standing tradition. Thanks to our control over production processes, materials used, and technologies, we can systematically reduce the environmental impact of production

while simultaneously maintaining high product quality and safety.

The long service life and durability of our doors represent one of the key pillars of sustainability – high-quality doors with a long lifespan mean a lower ecological footprint throughout the entire product life cycle.

Energy and emission reduction in door manufacturing

A significant part of DOORNITE’s ecological production is the energetic utilization of production waste generated during wood processing.

Approximately 80% of this wood waste is used to generate energy for heating production areas. Thanks to this solution, DOORNITE has managed to reduce gas consumption by approximately 95%, thereby significantly limiting emissions associated with production operations.

This approach serves as a practical example of efficient and responsible resource management directly within the manufacturing plant.

Part of our system for reducing production emissions is a significant investment in modern filtration technology worth approximately CZK 30 million. This technology ensures effective filtration of emissions generated during door production and contributes to improving air quality around the manufacturing plant. Thanks to advanced filtration, we consistently operate well below legal emission limits. This investment in emission filtration confirms our commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of our production and operations.

Waste management and circular principles

Waste minimization is an integral part of our production processes. Materials generated during the manufacture of doors and frames are systematically sorted and, to the maximum extent possible:

  • utilized for energy,
  • recycled,
  • or handed over to specialized partners for ecological processing.

Production optimization allows us to reduce the amount of residual material and supports the principles of a circular economy.

FSC® certified wood from sustainable sources

DOORNITE is an FSC® certificate holder (License Code FSC-C084624), which confirms that the wood used comes from responsibly managed forests and controlled sources.

FSC certification ensures wood traceability in the supply chain and supports sustainable forest management.

Ecological surface finishes and water-based lacquers

In the production of interior doors, we use water-based lacquers with a lower content of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These ecological surface finishes:

  • reduce the environmental impact of production,
  • contribute to a healthier working environment,
  • meet current environmental standards.

At the same time, they ensure high durability and a long lifespan for door surfaces.

Natural materials in door cores

Selected door cores used in production contain a proportion of natural fibers, specifically flax. Flax is a renewable material that, in combination with wood, contributes to the required technical parameters while reducing the proportion of purely synthetic components.

This approach combines ecology with product functionality and stability.

Healthy and safe indoor environments

Brass handles and laminate surfaces used on selected door models have antibacterial properties that do not support the growth of bacteria.

These properties are particularly important in schools, healthcare facilities, administrative buildings, and other public projects.

Longevity as a part of sustainability

DOORNITE interior doors are designed for long-term use in residential and commercial projects. High quality, durability, and the possibility of servicing reduce the need for frequent product replacement, thereby lowering their overall ecological footprint.

Future direction

We continuously evaluate new technologies, materials, and production processes with the aim of further reducing the environmental impact of door manufacturing and supporting a healthy indoor environment.

Our goal is to be a long-term responsible partner for customers, architects, and developers looking for high-quality and sustainable interior door solutions.
